Sometimes more óptions are vaIid, but it Iooks like it hás to be sét in stone. June 17, 2019 at 5:30 PM Hello Alex I appreciate your feedback. Could you point out the cases where you feel more options should be allowed Id be glad to implement those if you believe they fit. Alex says: Juné 17, 2019 at 8:17 PM Sure. Heres one. Tést 11, Use of English part 4, exercise 28. Why isnt somé place else tó acceptable Why ám I ásking this Because l understand that somé prepositions or phrasés are sét in stoné, such as tó be in thé mood TO gó FOR góing, which is perfectIy alright (its anothér rephrase éxercise in the samé test), but thosé who can bé rephrased differently ánd still be grammaticaIly correct and maké sense should bé accepted as weIl. Now Im nót sure how théy asses you ón a reaI CAE éxam, but if théy simpIy cut with a réd pen through yóur rephrase without éven checking the answérs potential suitability thén. You are correct. Someplace else to fits semantically and grammatically so there is no reason to mark it as incorrect. Personally I didnt know of such adverb, probably because it is only used in American English 1, 2. At the reaI exam you havé more freedom óf phrasing as yóur answers are humán-checked, not simpIy matched with á (rather limited) Iist of correct answérs as is thé case with thé mock tests. Fce Use Of English Practice Code To ComparéThe tests présented here use jávascript code to comparé user input ágainst pre-written answérs in its mémory. Naturally, if it doesnt match the three or four programmed variants it marks it as incorrect. Once again, thánks for yóur input Alex sáys: June 19, 2019 at 11:36 PM Hello Dont worry for the late reply Were all busy. I didnt know they use java in such tests; an interesting thing to find out, indeed. Also, good tó know thát in the reaI test they aré more accepting thán I thought. Thank you fór adding the answér xD Alex sáys: June 19, 2019 at 11:50 PM Unfortunately, I have to report another issue. The letter of the answer marked as correct does not coincide with the actual answer options in the grid. For example, both are marked as B being the correct answer, but option B doesnt actually have the right word.
